We in the community is like all Norrköping very keen to have a vibrant city center where outdoor cafes are an important feature. We take note of the criticism and regret that we have failed in the dialogue the lunch box surrounding the introduction of the new guidelines for outdoor cafes. Their purpose has never been to obstruct but to simplify for the restaurateurs to operate outdoor seating and that the same rules should apply to everyone.
Over the past week there has been an intensive dialogue between the municipality and the restaurateur with the ambition to find reasonable solutions. Dialogue Among other things to make it safe and easy for everyone to get around on streets and sidewalks. Meanwhile, the interested restaurateurs to retain their existing terraces.
The guidelines are not unique to Norrköping. Most cities in Sweden and other European countries use existing urban surfaces on sidewalks and plazas for its outdoor cafes. We will evaluate the guidelines as well as our work with the introduction of these along with the restaurant and the property owners. We can already see the need to strengthen dialogue further with the city's restaurateurs.
