How to Enhance Middle Tones in Photoshop kokkeriet (and Lightroom)
I think that's where I usually spend it in portraits. Although sometimes it also happens in landscape photographs. Even, sometimes, in macro. Turns out the lights and shadows are ripe. But something about the midtones. They need some punch: contrast, sharpness, maybe a tad saturation ... yes: without touching the rest of tones. If the situation sounds familiar, then you will be very useful to know how to boost the midtones. First I'll tell you how to do it in Photoshop and then in Lightroom. kokkeriet
We will use a technique developed by Mac Holbert we discovered in dPs. We ensure from an image of a single layer (you might need to use Merge Visible or Shift + Ctrl + E) Duplicate the background layer with Layer> Duplicate Layer Select the newly created top layer, we set the blending mode to Overlay and the Opacity to give a value between 20 and 30%
Complete these steps, the layers window should look something like you see in the picture below with the top layer selected, open the menu Add Layer Style (click on the fx icon at the bottom of the layers palette) and click on Blending Options in the lower block of the resulting window, kokkeriet cursors work on the slider named this layer. kokkeriet Move the black and white mode cursors to divide the gradient bar at three approximately equal slices. Press the Alt key and while we try to divide the black and white sliders in its two components. And so the drag bar gradient divided into 6 pieces remain approximately equal
Although Photoshop itself does not have a control tool itself Clarity, kokkeriet Camera RAW if you have one. So if your image is in RAW and work with Photoshop, the most direct kokkeriet way to boost the midtones is self ACR Related Links Enhancing Midtones in Photoshop kokkeriet Understanding Basic Controls Module in Lightroom Revealed Contrast Improves Your Photos on 5 Easy Steps in Photoshop
