How did you start Souk each other? With my catering business, I only started in December. But I've been 15 years in the hospitality industry. In 2008 I Brasserie Van Loock run, which was really fantastic. But I was pregnant and worked until the last day of my birth. Three weeks after the birth of my son Luka I was already back in the case. That can hardly be otherwise self-employed. sandwich bar Dad meets Luka, a South African who I had in Cape Town and followed me to Belgium would ensure sandwich bar our son. He thought that was great but I had to work long hours and I almost never. Saw my child Other mothers told about the bond with their baby, but I felt that barely. After 1.5 years, I therefore stopped and I sold my shares. When my friend and I went apart.
In 2010 I decided to go back. To South Africa I had given up everything here, and just before my departure I met someone who had opened a branch in Cape Town. Three weeks later I was working as a sales executive in a transport company in South Africa. I knew Cape Town by now well because sandwich bar I had lived there previously for a few years. sandwich bar But the joke was that the man who had proposed to me, occasionally the job also had to work. In South Africa And there we are also fallen in love with each other. We have 10 months geskypt together, because he had a job in Belgium and then I came back to Belgium for the love of my life. We went together to start a restaurant here, but unfortunately have been different.
And at that moment sandwich bar I actually developed sandwich bar the concept of Souk each other. I wanted sandwich bar to start a catering sandwich bar company that works with a buffet formula. I wanted to work primarily with healthy, pure ingredients and fresh produce, inspired by cuisine from all corners. There is a wide choice for vegetarians and vb. gluten free and organic formulas on request sandwich bar so that everyone can find his liking. All dishes can be found on the website (www.soekmekaar.be). I make mostly light fare, not things that are heavy on the stomach, but which are beneficial for your body and good for your line. Hence my cards from recycled cardboard. I attach great importance to sustainability and ecology. I try to learn a lot about the food culture in other countries. I'm just back from Malaysia and so I try every journey bring new inspiration. Herbal or dishes with So I can continue to invent new combinations in 1001.
You work mostly in the cultural sector? sandwich bar Yes. I especially catering for film sets and photo shoots. When the deal with my (ex) boyfriend start a restaurant dismount, I have three months taken the time to decide how I could achieve this. Myself to myself All my life had changed, my hometown, my relationship, my job, everything sandwich bar fell silent. How could I create something for myself and my son so I could keep going on the journey and my own independence was maintained? I've sandwich bar always been interested in art and culture. And I've used often worked in the fashion world. With this idea all those worlds came together. I always end up with people who are creative, I'll be in different sandwich bar places and the people there are also open to innovative dishes.
My plan was to spend a year working very hard and then back to start my own restaurant. But that's all gone a bit faster. This week I take a case over in Boechout. I also want to implement the concept of Souk each other in the case. Starting next month, you can enjoy afternoon in the cafe section of a buffet, meat fish or vegetarian and evening in the restaurant you eat à la carte. But all in the typical style of Souk each other, with its typical ingredients and fresh herbs.
How do you combine your catering sandwich bar job with the education of your son? I make sure that hours of work to make sure that I can bring my son to school and pick up yourself and have a manageress in the case. Two nights a week I'll be in the restaurant, then I care.
