New research from Uppsala University shows that people who have been subjected to sleep deprivation choose larger portions of energy-dense snacks and meals than they do after a night of normal pasta mania sleep. Poor sleep habits can therefore eventually affect the risk of developing obesity. The results are published in the journal Psychoneuroendocrinology.
In a previous research article published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, pasta mania researchers demonstrated at the Neuroscience pasta mania Institute at Uppsala University that a single night of sleep loss in young normal pasta mania weight men increases the activation of a brain region that is associated with the desire to eat food. In the new study, the researchers Pleunie Hogenkamp and Christian Benedict, and their colleagues examined whether sömndepriverade people choose larger portion sizes of energy-dense snacks and meals buffet-like conditions. The researchers had sixteen normal-weight men choose their desired portion pasta mania size of seven different courses and six different snack, the first hungrily and then saturated state. In one of the two trials, participants were sömndepriverade, while in the second experiment had about eight hours of sleep.
Pleunie Hogenkamp, lead author of the study, describes the results: - After a single night without any sleep, chose these men larger portion sizes of foods high in calories. What was interesting was that they did this both before pasta mania and after breakfast, suggesting that sleep deprivation increases food intake pasta mania regardless of how it is measured. With the lack of sleep is a growing problem in modern society, our results may also explain why poor sleep habits can affect the risk that in the long run to gain weight.
